With the ASEAN economic community opening up in the next couple of years, everyone is really feeling the need to focus on their English skills. While large companies have the resources to hire quality professional services, other groups, like public schools, do not. Setting up English classes for groups like these with qualified native speaking teachers really fills an urgent need that they have.We were invited to put together a practical English course for school teachers in a district of Bangkok. These busy teachers gave an hour and a half at the end of a long day to stay and work on their English with us. There was still enough energy left over, though, to make for a fun interactive class. We focused mainly on speaking and conversation to try and build confidence and increase the teachers’ ability to function in English. We really saw some improvement throughout the course of our time together.
